How wireless systems work
Detectors and call points talk to the panel by radio rather than by cable. The devices are battery powered, and the panel monitors signal strength and battery condition so problems show up before they cause trouble.
Where they suit
- Period, listed and historic buildings where cable routes would damage the fabric
- Occupied buildings where disruption must be kept low
- Temporary or phased premises
- Pubs, churches, halls, B&Bs and older shops
Somerset and Bath have plenty of buildings of this type.
What to expect
We survey the signal environment as well as the layout, because thick stone walls can affect radio range. A wireless system is installed quicker than a wired one, then commissioned and tested the same way, with the same records. See addressable vs conventional for the other options.

Questions we get asked
Before you call.
Are wireless fire alarms reliable?
Yes, when designed properly. The panel monitors every device, so signal or battery problems are reported.
How long do the batteries last?
It varies with the system and conditions. The panel reports low batteries and they are replaced during servicing.
Do wireless systems meet the standard?
Wireless systems designed to the relevant standard can be used where appropriate. We confirm on the survey.
“Explained what he was doing, gave honest advice and didn’t make the job bigger than it needed to be. Proper reliable service.”
