When you need three-phase

Most homes run on a single-phase supply. Three-phase is used where loads are larger or motors are involved: workshops, woodworking and engineering machinery, compressors, commercial kitchens, larger EV charging, farms and industrial units.

If equipment is labelled 415V or 400V, or your supply has three live conductors at the cut-out, you are on three-phase.

What the work includes

  • New three-phase distribution boards and sub-boards
  • Isolators and connections for machinery
  • Balancing loads across the three phases
  • Motor protection and control panels
  • Testing, certification and labelling of every circuit

Larger changes to the incoming supply itself are arranged with the network operator, and we coordinate that with the installation work.

Before work starts

We look at the supply, the loads you plan to run and the existing board, then give a fixed price. Isolations are scheduled to suit your operations, and the installation is tested and documented before it is energised.

Questions we get asked

Before you call.

How do I know if I have three-phase?

Three-phase supplies have three live conductors at the cut-out and a larger main switch. Equipment rated 400V or 415V needs it. We can confirm on a quick visit.

Can you add three-phase to an existing building?

Often yes, subject to the network operator. We assess the supply and arrange the upgrade alongside the internal work.

Do you provide certification?

Yes. Every installation is tested and an electrical installation certificate is issued on completion.
